School Friends

Without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all the goods.
 Aristotle

All of us would take different roads after elementary, high school and college. Having a family, going abroad, even death etc… We may not see each other for a long time. Others may forget us, others may not. But we still have one year to say goodbye before graduation and cherish every moment with them. Don’t forget to keep their mobile number and pictures!

I want to share to you a wonderful message from the book shoelaces...

What a joy to be with friends; how lonely and sad it would be without them.

Sometimes, it is unfortunate that as we grow to be adults we forget the importance of friends. Imagine going to a place alone by yourself. You are stuck in traffic with no one to talk to. Think of the times you were depressed, and there was no one to cheer you up and make you laugh. Recall the instances when you didn’t know what to do, and there was no one to ask advice from. You were in a mess, and nobody lent a hand for you.

The world is getting bigger for most of us – plenty of acquaintances, connections and organizations. But is this the world we wish to be in? You know many people, yet you have put up a good image, even to the point of being insincere, in order to be wanted and accepted. You deal with them in a business like fashion knowing it’s a scratch-your-back-and-I’ll-scratch-yours affair. It’s often getting to be a utilitarian kind of relationship; we need them because we want something from them, and vice-versa.
How we yearn for the times when our world was smaller, but we have a bigger circle of real friends. We can’t really expand the growth of our true selves as persons without the warm comfort of people whom we can cherish, trust, and share life with. We may have accomplished much, but we still lacking; we have gained a fortune, but we feel empty; we have travel far, but we are still searching. Ah, friends complete the beauty of being. We cannot ignore the deep longing for friends in our lives.

Where are our friends? What happened to them? Maybe, we had too many reasons. Or were excuses? Too little time for them because we are busy; too expensive to meet them; too far to reach them; and too occupied to hear them. Are we aware that even our appreciation of friends has changed over the years? We may have discovered wealth and fame, but we can’t help feeling sorry for having lost our friends. Let us ask ourselves, where are my friends of yesteryears?
